Why use different stations in the classroom?
I use stations as a means for getting students to try different activities at their own pace. These activities are planned on a particular theme or topic and cover a range of activities which provide differentiation in ability levels, interests, support and also learning styles.
This is a strategy I remember I read about a long time ago in teacher training but it did emerge again in a TES post. I love it and I believe that variety is what is needed.
With the Ipads in language learning, I have different stations:
1. Knowledge - where they can use quizlet, or complete a grammar exercise or do a popplet on a topic to review key knowledge and vocabulary.
2. Application - Here, they can review grammar points or vocabulary by putting the two into practise through various apps (please see link to Ipads in the Classroom)
3. Creation / Synthesis - Reading and writing using the target language and re-constructing ideas and language into a coherent text which can be audio, screencasts or video.
